Every once in a while I get to where I don’t want to write anymore. Lately everyone I’ve talked to feels the same. Jaded with the industry, burnt out on writing spec scripts, feeling it is time to get a “real” job.
I believe writing is a real job. It is often more difficult than typical work because of the isolation and the amount of self-motivation that must be fed into it. The lack of a payday is excruciating. Pay is affirmation of a job well done.
I’m fortunate enough to not be sweating it financially, but since I haven’t written a word in a month, maybe it’s time to go out and do some other work, the type that pays almost instantly. At least until the words come back to me.
